I was hoping some of you Washington State residents would help me with some of the laws over there. This coming weekend I'm going to be traveling to Seattle and I'd like to know what the concealed and non concealed laws are. I know that Washington State honors the Idaho Concealed weapons permit, which is to my benefit, however I don't know if there are any laws pertaining to length, number, etc. I'd love any information. Flying and having to check my weapons is bad enough, even worse if I can't carry the knives I want, or my gun. Thank you in advance for any help!!

Thank you! Your reply was so good no one else even bothered! Way to go you!!! Thanks again for the info. :D I really do appreciate it.

Really? Is that a new thing? A few years ago in a gun class I was taking the instructor (a retired police officer from Oregon) said that Idaho/Montan and Washington honored each-others permits, but Oregon was absolute on not recognizing any permits. Bummer for me, but oh well. I was planning on making a few phone calls friday anyway before I flew out. Thanks for the info!

FWIW, I, too, thought the Reciprocity for issued CPP's existed between all three states...

And 9mmbc... I didn't answer 'cause I thought QS covered it! LOL!!!

And I'm here in Seattle working for a lawyer for the WA Arms Collectors... I'll ask him to illucidate...

Per 9mm's question, here's a link that pretty well covers CCW/CPP issues across the country... I haven't had time to read it all, but it should address the WA/ID/OR reciprocity question...

Good luck!

Here is the deal. Washington only recognizes permits from the states that are listed in the link. This law came into law last year, before that Washington did not recognize any state. Oregon dose not recognize any other state. Idaho recognizes all states. However some one who in not a resident of Washington can get a Washington license.

Joeshredd-Thank you!!! Saves me messing around with the airline and checking my gun. I think I'll go a head an take my knives none the less. Maybe not my neck knife or my ankle knife, but the Calipso Jr and the Voyager are going with me for sure. :)

To everyone who replied, thank you for helping me find the information that I was seeking.

9mmbc - since you are coming to Seattle propper, and have chosen to leave the guns behind... It's legal in the city of Seattle (as opposed to King County, in which Seattle resides) to carry up to a 3 1/2" folding knife that can't be opened centrifically or automatically. No fixed blades are legal in Seattle.
In King County, depending of course upon any local juristictional regulations, it's legal to carry up to 3 3/4" most places. Other counties around here do allow for small fixed blade carry.

And, if this is the weekend you are coming over - drive south to Puyallup and swing by the Fairgrounds for the April WA Arms Collector's Show on either Saturday or Sunday!

Enjoy the stay!

Trip to Seattle was a blast. I didn't make it to the show but I did play around and have a good time. I love that city and plan to go back in about a month. Thanks for the help again!! Take care and play safe! 9mm
