Hello from Washington State.

I am new and have been educating my self as I want to buy a knife to carry. I bought a Benchmade 755 only to find it was too big for me. Looking at the specs of differend knives helps but seeing them physically eliminates any guess.

I am looking to meet an experienced collector and pick his brain as well as look at some knives in person. I live in Packwood but will be spending the winter in the Tri Cities.

Anyone out there willing to help me in this way?...thanks

Bob

I'm in the greater Portland area. Are you able to meet somewhere in between?

Bob,
I'm not sure this'll help much depending on your mobility. You could try and make it to Eugene for the Oregon Knife Collectors Association show in December. There should be plenty of people there to talk with, including makers many of whom are local to your area and I bet a number of the Oregon knife companys will be there (e.g. Benchmade, Kershaw) Info here:

You just missed a pretty good show in Shelton, WA put on by the Northwest Knife Collectors. They meet a Thursday each month (may be the first) in Tacoma. You could probably get some leads for your area by contacting Don Hanham. dhanham@earthlink.net That just may be the best place to start so you don't have to run around reinventing the wheel. www.nwkc.org

I'm sorry I can't be of much more help. Beautiful area down near Packwood...enjoy the Tri Cities.
Cheers,
Steve

You don't have the capability to PM, but I live in the Tri-Cities (kennewick) area. I'm not a 'huge' collector, but I have a bit of experience, I'm always willing to help.

Just an offer to help a fellow knife nut.

Thanks for the replies Guys. I will be in the TC's after Thanksgiving.

Roger I will be going to Walla Walla from Kennewick in Dec. I will contact you before I go to see if we can coordinate a time to meet up...thanks.

somber, I will send you a message when I get settled in...thanks.

2 shot...If you ever make it over to Aberdeen (central west coast area), feel-free to look me up.

Thanks everyone for your invites if I am in your area I will contact you in advance.

Roger, I am interested in folders for EDC so what ever a person would have. I haven't had the time to read much but that will change. A half an hour of conversation is worth a weeks worth of reading.

Right now I mostly peruse the for-sale adds to get familiar with the value of production knives. Pretty mind boggling.
