Watch band question

The wife got me a new watch for Christmas. It's not as fancy as some of the timepieces I've seen on the board, but for our price range it pretty nice.

It's an Armitron Titanium, and it's more of a dress-up watch than I usually wear. It's got two of the features that I require in a watch: analog face with a digital date. I do have two complaints about it though:

1.) it doesn't have a light.

2.) It keeps yankin' hairs out of my arm! I told my wife I was going to shave my wrist, but she just laughed at me. Is there anything I can do about this? I'm thinking that we'll probably exchange it, but I was curious if there was anything I could do. I've thought about spraying it with... WD40? a lubricant of some kind? I donno. Also thought about trying to sand between the links to open them up a bit, but that's probably more trouble than I want to go through.

Any advice?

I had the same problem with hairs getting plucked. Eventually, all the ones that are gonna get yanked are pulled out. Maybe loosening up the band a little will help.

I'd suggest trying to swap it for another of the same model if that's convenient. If not then try to determine if only certain links are causing the problem and see if you can GENTLY pry the offending links apart, thereby creating a slightly larger gap between them and eliminating the problem.
