This Sunday, I turn 21, and for the big occasion, my parents are buying me a watch. They are willing to spend about 130 or so. Can anyone give any suggestions as to what's a good watch for that kind of money?
Thanks,
Matt

Some of the "higher-end" Casio G-Shocks are pretty nice for $130 and under.:).

I like the Swiss Army original as well and am considering this versus the Luminx. Another good watch for that price range is a plain Seiko with leather band. I have had one of these for 15 years and replaced batteries maybe 3 or 4 times and the leather band twice.

There are a lot of good watches out there it comes down what is your personal style, what are your activities while wearing the watch, and do you want to have it for a lifetime?

Just some things to think about.

By the way HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JAZZMAN!! ;)

Generally agree with the posts above. It depends on your lifestyle and what you will be doing with the watch.

Though I have a Luminox, I hear nothing but bad about their $ervice!

Every Casio I have ever owned has been really, really tough.

The Swiss Army Watchs have neat styles, are a more dressy than the Casios, but I do not have enough experience to tell you about their service record.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

The Swiss Army watches make a nice go to church watch. I use the $7 Casio from Wal-Mart for everyday scrapes and scuffs and use my "nice" watch for dinner out, church, job interviews and the like.

Look online at the Swiss Watches and find a style that fits you. I find that something between a Sports watch and a formal dress watch give a lot of versatility.

Do not forget the Citizen diver's watches (the Promaster series).
Very good value for money, as they are very well built, really waterproof and "beautiful" if you appreciate the "Jeep Wrangler" look.

Thank you all for the quick responses. I gave the folks some hints. I'll just have to see what they come up with.
Thanks again
Matt
I'll let you all know how it turns out:) :)

JAZZMAN:

No experience with this watch. But it looks cool. Hope you will enjoy it for many years to come.

Hope you had a great birthday!

Gary

I am considering one of these watches. Now that youve had it for a little while what do you think?

The watch is holding up very well, especially since I wear it everywhere except when I'm in the unit. The eco-drive is a neat gizmo. It's nice to think that I'll never have to buy another set of batteries for it:D The only thing that pissed me off about the watch is where my folks bought it. Famous Bahr does free sizing, but the jerk that sized it for me scuffed the bottom of the band and I didn't notice it until I got home:mad:  Oh well. I think that if you get one you will enjoy it. It really is a gorgeous watch and keeps very good time. I think that my next watch adventure will be a luminox.
Thanks,
Matt
