Hey guys, never been a big watch guy but its time. I would love some advice and input.

I am looking to spend under $100. My needs are time, date, waterproof (for basic swimming, no deep stuff), lighting function for low light watch reading, alarm, stop watch, and compass. I found the compass to be the feature that limmited me the most. I like analog watches but for my price range and needs, I am thinking digital.

So far I have found the timex expedition compass watch and the Casio twin sensor compass thermometer watch (sgw-100) to meet my needs the best.

Lmk what you guys recommend out of those two and/or if u can recommend any others. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a SGW-100B for three years now and it's my favourite digital watch for hiking and canoeing trips. The compass is accurate enough for determining directions and it has one of the best displays that I've seen on the digital Casio's. It has big and sharp numbers.

Thanks Harayasu. That was really helpful. I was leaning towards the timex purely for cosmetic reasons but now u swayed me.

Casio seems to own the market for low cost, highly shock resistant and water resistant watches with lots of gadgets. I like the Pathfinder series, but one will cos you more than $100.

I wear a Suunto core for hiking and fishing trips which is over your budget but I just wanted to say FWIW, I still always bring an actual compass with me on these trips.

I went ahead and ordered the casio sgw-100. If it gets lots of use I will eventually think of upgrading to a pathfinder or something. When hiking the compass will just be a backup but I like the idea of always having one on my wrist even when not planning on needing one. Thank you for the input guys.
