Watch or Sunglasses

Somehow I wound up with two pairs of polarized Oakley Half Jackets. Retail is $160, add in some tax, and if I return a pair I can put about $170 into my pocket.

I'm having trouble deciding between a new watch and a new pair of sunglasses. The sunglasses I want not polarized, with metal frames. I'd prefer rimless, but that seems to exceed my price range.

The Oakley Whiskers are in the running.

So is a new Citizen watch.

If I get a watch I want it thin (<8mm), with a second hand movement, and the date. WR to at least 33m.

Either recommend me a pair of sunglasses, or a watch. Feel free to offer more opinions, more choices, or just a vote. I'm looking for one or the other for mostly dress purposes. Half jackets are great for driving, but I wouldn't want to wear them to a business meeting.

I’m going to follow popular convention by ignoring what you said you where looking for and recommend 3 pairs of glasses that don’t fit what you said your looking for.

This is a pair of Serengeti’s I disremember which model it is but I researched them before I got them and they were the top of they’re line (as of 8 or so months ago). They have some of the best polarization I’ve experienced in glasses and the lenses get darker as the sun gets brighter. They’re also SUPER light. You’ll notice that mine don’t look so good. This picture was taken after I accidentally ran them over with my car. What amazes me is that I was able to bend the (titanium) frames back, and polish out all but one of the scratches. The only permanent damage was one of the screws holding the missing lens in place. It had sheered off. Not surprising considering I went over it twice…Once backing out and a second time coming in. :o

This happened about 5 months after I bought them ($176 at Sams Club) I took them just as you see in the picture back to the club, explained what happened. And about 4 minutes later they had exchanged it for a brand new pair.:D

This is a pair is by Armani you’ll have to take my word for it when I tell you that the picture doesn’t even begin to do them justice. They are some of the best looking glasses I’ve ever owned. Good enough to make a dork like me look (well feel anyways) like Brad Pitt. They are not polarized and cost around $100.

Last is a pair of Ray Bans. Probably the best value I’ve owned. Around $100-130, glass leness, super comfortable and they’ve proved to be decently durable (I’ve had them for a few years and they don’t show it).

The oakleys. As you probably know, they are beast, and bullet proof. The metal framed oakleys sit very nicley on the nose and ears.

If you know anyone with a valid military id, check out usstandardissue dot com. My buddy(going through army helicopter pilot training) got me a pair of polarized gascans for 80$. They have all kinds of Oakley gear for great prices(boots/glasses/gloves) for very good prices. You can get replacement lenses for cheap.
It is oakley's direct sales site for military/government personel. I'm suprised how few people know about it. Very easy to register and use.
If you have a friend active/reserve have them get you what you want, and as a thank you buy them a pair and still save a good amount.

i just upgraded my sunglasses from oakley minutes to titanium polarized whiskers. they were darn expensive but they are nice. i tried on a pair of standard whiskers at a dealer then ordered direct from oakley. they sent a vault for free with the sunglasses:cool:

Check out Maui Jim's Kapalua's, I have had a pair for a few years, and the lens are amazing, it's like seeing everything in Hi-Def. Aside from having good lenses, they are extremely light, it's like they float on your face. I have been very pleased with mine... obviously.
