hey everyone, i'm looking for a mid size watch(most pilots are to big, i'm thinking 40mm and smaller) that is under 200$ with a very simple face. i like the sub set second hand and automatic movement on this piece:

but those last 2 aren't requirements just things i tend to fall for. keep in mind THERE IS NO PRICE FLOOR. if there is an appealing cheap option that i may have overlooked let me know.

thanks again, mitch

and feel free to add pictures of your own, links for where to buy cheap, lists of positives and negatives, ect.

looks like im just having a conversation with myself here but any thoughts on the Seiko military 5 or MNC watches?

I just don't want to have buyers remorse and find a better/cheaper option. I know it's a pretty reasonable price, I just wanted to know what's out there or if anybody here owns one. I'm at the beginning of looking here, just thought that asking some people here could speed up the search.

i was looking at that Mid Pilot too, love the look of it! but i just got the Citizen eco-drive bm6400 and love this thing, costs less than the Maratac but it gets rave reviews. here's are a couple of pics

good luck with your watch search!

Another vote for Seiko Kinetic. They can be found for way under MSRP on the internet.
Just watch out for counterfeits.

I would go for the countycomm pilot. You would most likely not run into anyone else wearing one.I have been thinking about the large one myself.Love the looks of it but for myself I know I would miss not having a date window.

In your price range, your limitation is on what automatic movement is inside the watch. The outside "look" is merely cosmetic. Choose what you like.

$200 watches will have either Japanese, or Chinese automatic movements. The Countycomm watches use Citizen movements from Japan. A lot of the other automatic watches in your price range use China movements.

I would recommend something using Seiko or Citizen internals.

I have the large version of the Maratac Pilot. I like it quite a bit. Keeps good time. Good lume. Highly visible. The watchband they sell it with is terrible, though. Thin nylon.

For $200 there are lots of good choices. Watch guys usually recommend the Seiko Monster or the Orient Mako. I have both of those and highly recommend the Seiko Monster. It is a little bulky, though. I also have a Bernhard Sea Shark, which is a small brand built in North Carolina using a Citizen movement. It's a very nice watch or a little over $200. Invicta gets slammed by the watch snobs, but if you shop carefully, you can find a very nice looking automatic watch for $50/$60.

I wear a 5600 G-shock which has the tough solar and atomic timekeeping feature:

I'm pretty happy with it, but I really like the looks of the Seiko Military automatic with green or blue dial:

They seem to be less common in the US, however.

I've got a Seiko 5, model SNK809K2, and really like it. Simple watch and automatic. It did cost me 75 euros (about 93 US dollars). It comes with a nylon strap, but it's easy to replace that one with a leather strap or a nato strap.

A bit more expensive and not automatic, but solar powered option would be the Citizen BM8180.

Another vote for seiko. I have one of these, try get a japan model if you can, 5 military automatic, about the price range your looking at.

Yet another vote for the Seiko, the SNZG15 like videl pictured above is about $120. Mine looks great, keeps good time for an auto.
