Just spent about an hour getting my Pay Pal debit card cancelled.I got an email saying that my charge of 900.00 to Southwest airlines did not go through,Thank God!
Only used it once online in the past few weeks and it was to a place I have ordered from before with no problems. The woman at Pay Pal said the thieves are getting really tricky at reading CC info. I watch anyone I hand a card to like a hawk, have no idea how someone got the info.
Update, with the new info I found I thought it best to start a thread on this in the GB and U

Good advice, the crooks are getting better and better at their "craft"

Its almost impossible to protect yourself these days. The wife's phone was stolen yesterday and we're running around changing passwords right and left.

I'd love a few minutes with one of these dirt bags in a quiet alley, with my bat

I have one word "cash"
And I know It's not viable for web use but still my preferd method of payment.
Oh and I'm glad you got you money back man!

Believe me when I say I use cash as much as I can.I don't even use checks.I went years with no bank account after a bank lost a whole weeks pay once.Never got that back.I send postal MOs for the few bills I have to mail in every month. At least I did not have my pay pal card linked to my bank account,if I did it would have gone through.

Maybe they used an RFID reader, I use a flipside x2 anti RFID wallet which really makes me feel better about being out and about

Thought about that.Hate to go to a alum wallet.Might try some of the card slip case blockers.
How do you know if a card has a RFID?

Yup, gotta be careful these days... Some scumbag bought himself a holiday in Italy with my CC. I was lucky to notice in time to report and have the card cancelled and money refunded. Had to wait 4 weeks for the money, but got it all back.

I agree with leatherman. Give me an hour with these lazy scumbags. I put limits on what can be charged or taken out of an account. I will deal with the hassle of going to the bank to get money out. Plus gives me a chance to talk to the cute back tellers. :D

I just went and took out all my cash just in case they have my bank card,I am sure if they did they would have hit it by now.I hardly ever use it online or anywhere else for that matter. I am glad I got my NMFSH paid for up front now.
New Pay Pal debit card is on the way so maybe everything will be back to normal next week.

If these thieves spent as much time doing honest work as they do at trying to beat the system or scamming the rest of us they would have their own money to spend and sleep a lot better at night. On second thought, it probably doesn't bother their sleep because they have no conscience.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. It does help to have your paypal run off of a debit card linked with a secondary account with limited funds that you manage as necessary. At least this keeps them out of your primary account with the larger (hopefully :)) balance.

Yeah my buddy just had his stolen online but the bank called him and asked about some strange charges and he confirmed they weren't him, the bank ended up not making him pay for the charges and are sending him a new card, now he makes sure to go through PayPal.

Yeah,my Pay Pal debit card is only hooked to my pay pal balance so if you try to use it for any amount over what is in the pay pal balance it is turned down. I am for sure keeping it that way,I noticed a few days ago that you can back it up with another funding source the same way you hook pay pal to your bank account.Glad I did not do it even though it would be handy at times.

The new cards with RFID usually have a paypass logo on the back of them

I did a search for CC problems for the only place I have ordered from online with my pay pal debit card in the last couple weeks and found that others have had there cards hacked just after ordering from them too.I don't now if it is OK to post the link to the topic on another forum or not. Also not sure if it would be OK to post the name of the company. It is one that many here order from.
Really don't know how to go about getting this stuff anymore as they do not have a pay pal option and not to many other places sell the stuff.
I will post the info if a MOD says it is OK.

It's really bad these days... Some time ago the bank called my GF to tell her that her debit visa card was cancelled because she used it in an ATM that has been hacked for a few days... Aside form inconvenience (Xmas time break) there was no damage.

Hey what about these prepay cc?? you need to spend $300.00 on the net. you go and get a prepay cc so if they try to rip you off there is nothing there to get because you had only put the $300.00 that you need for your buy? I heard amscott and walmart stores like that are selling them.would useing them be the safe way to go??
