Watcha Drinking?

Oak aroma; good berry flavor with a hint of citrus; nice woody vanilla finish.
Very good, especially for under $10 a bottle.
All that plus an advanced, 21st Century closure system (i.e., screw cap).

I believe I detect Tito's in the background...

Guyon and Tony G (not to mention Nozh2002) will be happy to see that.

I was on good old American bourbon ... but I'm sliding toward my familiar single malt Scotches.

That is indeed the big bottle of Tito's, with a big bottle of good old American Bourbon (Rebel Yell) anchoring the other side. In between we have The Macallan (12 YO), Chopin Vodka, Nouvelle-Orleans Absinthe, Conquistador Tequilla, and Bushmills Malt (21 YO).

Nouvelle-Orleans Absinthe, any good?

Whats its thujone content and price? I'm not familiar with this brand!

Man, I haven't had any Rebel Yell since a certain Rebel Yell party at a certain Delta Tau Delta fraternity house many, many years ago. One of my best friends was in the fraternity, and that's about all I remember. :p :o

I don't much care for it (all absinthe tastes like anise extract to me, and I'm not a big anise fan), but people who like Absinthe seem to like it. It's made by Jade, which is a pretty well respected brand. There's a description and current price information at the site where I got mine, and independent reviews here and here.

I don't believe they advertise the thujone levels, but since it's made in France, it's going to be not more than 10mg/l. Despite what the Czech sites hyping their high thujone levels say, based on tests of vintage absinthes, that appears consistent with the levels in the pre-ban stuff from ages past.

And, of course, because it's real Absinthe, it's not legal to sell it in the US.

I've only ever bought Hill's and some other brand I can't for the life of me remember - bought at the LCBO (Ontario, Canada).

Neither of them were impressive. I'd love to import the real deal, but i'm not a real connoisseur and can't justify the cost.
