I was watching nat-geo boarder patrol and noticed a a boarder control officer with dull knife. He was hacking at a wrapped packages of some kinda drug and his knife would just not pierce the plastic wrap and tape which was some what odd. Looked like a brand new knife, it just wouldn't cut into the package (doh!). The guy should have dumped his knife and went for the pair of sissors in the background hehe. catching a smuggler might makes ya look like a bad ass but not being able to get thru the paper packaging wrapped with simple tape makes ya instantly look like a moron. Sorta like how a monkey would look if it were trying to get into a safe. worst yet is that your on TV and millions can see you look stupid haha.

And he probably wont even care that some Internet knife keyboard commandos are making threads about it as his work will keep him occupied, he may not even be a collector!

Wow, this guy is so wrong on so many levels, I don't even know where to start? Maybe with some English and grammar lessons to begin with - oh, and throw spelling in there too. . .

I was just watching that. Have been on a Nat-Geo kick since the 9/11 specials last night.
And I'm sure he doesn't really care how sharp his little pocket knife is, he has more important things to worry about. Like keeping criminals off the streets.

I say give him the benefit of doubt - maybe he has already been cutting through a lot of stuff and this last little piece of film makes the show - he just didn't have time to sharpen. Happens to me - I sharpen after I get it open with another knife.

So by your logic, everyone that is is a Border Patrol agent is supposed to be a knife aficionado? The knife described in the OP is not the only thing that is dull. Come on.

He actually uses his knife.....

The same can't be said for some of the people on this forum

The monkey opening a safe was pretty darn funny. Thanks for the laugh.

It was awful.

I saw it - ruined the whole show.

The only thought running through my head was "makes him instantly look like a moron, and in front of millions of people on TV, too. Looks like a monkey trying to get into a safe."

Wow... hard to think just how petty some people get. In keeping with the rest of the show, it is important for the viewers to listen to and understand the whole show. Sometimes, no matter how dense the viewer is, if they record and watch the same show over and over the signal can penetrate even the most dense gray matter and let them know what the idea was behind the broadcast.

eccvets probably missed the parts that showed how incredibly damn busy they are all day long. Or how personally dangerous their job can be.

And I may have missed it, but I am not sure that a knife sharpening break was included in their daily tasks of stopping drug smugglers, terrorists, and illegal immigrants. It was mentioned though, that in many instances these Border Patrol Agents are actually putting their lives on the line for us buy simply doing their daily job assignment. I know it is hard to have a good perspective on this knowing how important it is to look good in TV for the average tube head.

Personally, I would much rather have those fine folks do their job, rather than to fiddle around with a knife (that may have been sharp just minutes before its task shown on TV) worrying that some smarmy knucklehead might think they are not proper knife enthusiasts.

I feel really horrible for OP...
I understand both sides of this story though.
Did anyone catch a good enough glimpse to determine what knife he was actually using?
(just my 2c)

Stupidly irritating OP. But this show filmed my buddy at work! Keep your eyes peeled for a green izula!
