Does anyone have any experience with the Benchmade 916 Triage? I think I am going to pick one up soon. The website says the materials are N680 blade steel, 440C safety cutter, and Textured G10 handles, full stainless steel liners, and a Carbide glass breaker. Sounds pretty good to me. Also any experience with N680 Steel?

Thanks and Keep Em' Sharp!

N680 (which isn't priproitary to BM and some other mfg's also use it) is very similar to spyderco's H1, its is a somewhat softer but almost completely stainless steel which requires very little maintainance but will need sharpened more than say 154CM or VG-10. I have no experience using it in a knife blade but I have a BlueLab water meter in our salt water tank and the sensor head's are fixed in a bracket made of N680. (I should mention, its very unlikely the bracket is hardened as a blade would be). But I'm sure there's lots of people who do have N680 knives that can better help you.

Plain edge H1 is quite softer than N680. Serrated H1 has a higher HRC than N680 though, because of the work hardening that happens when the serrations are ground.

I got my cousin a 915 for his graduation and he carries it every day. He swears by it as a ranch hand. He's not a steel junkie but he definitely knows how to keep a knife sharp and I haven't heard any complaints about the knife from him.
