I fairly recently purchased a camel back type water bladder. Its perfect for day hike’s and tracking exercises and I’ve just started making it into a survival kit, there is a decent sized pocket in the front and there is room for carry in the water bladder compartment. I have even taken it on an overnight with good success with a bedroll (tarp, blanket and poncho) attached to it. I feel that once my outdoor skills grow I will be able to use it on extended trips. I was just wondering if anyone else has used one of these for things of this nature. Here is a link to the model I bought from North Face.

Nope..

I do it the other way around. I owe several backpacks and choose the one that suits the trip.
Then I put a Platypus with a drinking hose in the pack.
Works fine for me, but then again, I'm not one of those ultra-light guys.. I travel just plain lightweight.

Take care
