What is the best saw to use to cut water buffalo horn slabs in half? They are about 7/16" thick and I don't want to mess them up.

I did not try buffalo horn but cow (zebu) horn. Tu cut a slab in half I just put it in the vise and cut it with the metal hacksaw, making sure to start the cut in the middle and not at an angle. Worhed perfect, they came out nearly flat, had to sand them just a few minutes on a flat surface to get them true flat. I've learned a thing though. When you are past halfway you need to loose the vise a bit or the hacksaw blade will jam.
Hope it helps.

Since we talk buffalo horn, I have a something on my little brain and it bothers me. I see that you can buy buffalo horn of four types:
-black
-black with white stripes
-honney
-red

The black and black with stripes sound familiar to me. But what kind of buffalo "produces" yellow and red horns? If someone knows the answer and/or worked with those types of buffalo horn, please enlighten me.

Never seen water buffalo in honey, but havent seen much water buffalo though.

I've seen a lot of honey cow horn, and some of it is translucent.

Was wondering about the red myself.
