What's it like to work with? I like the look of it a great deal but I don't want to hate myself for it. Also, I've heard (from Howard Hitchmough, I believe) that it warps horribly in heat and humidity. Is this an exageration?
I'm looking to expand my line beyond black micarta. What other thoughts do you have about this material?

Chris, I use Water Buffalo all the time. The horn works great but does burn easily so a light touch is needed when sanding with power. It can and will change with the weather if used as slab handles.I use mine as spacers and as full handles on stick tang knives.Doing this greatly minimizes any changes.I haven't used any that was stabilized but that would solve 99% of the problems. But do try it because its beautiful when done.Good luck.Dave :p

I'm with Dave. I'd forgotten how nice the stuff was until I used some recently and I liked it so much I bought a whole bunch. You can find good deals on eBay if you're careful.

I like it too, but quit using it, its to unstable for me. If you could get it stabilized by a professional stabilizer then it should be alright, otherwise be ready for shrinkage on down the line.

I use the impala jigged buff horn quite a bit. I still use it because my customers like it. I agree with Bill, it may warp or shrink down the road. I've used it on about 25 knives and so far about 4 gave me a problem. Very minor though. It does stink like hell when you power sand.

Same here I like the looks of it, but just use it for spacers. And Scott ain't lieing about the stink.
