This article was inspired by the breaking of two 36-inch primary water mains of our local waterworks, one of them here in the city where I live and then the other in a smaller neighboring city two weeks later, that left many businesses and homes without water for a few days and then necessitated a boil order of the water in the system for a few days after it was repaired.
