water filter

this probably doesnt go here, but whatever. building a small truck kit with some food (4 cliff bars), 1 32oz nalgene water bottle, knife, lighter, esee fire kit as back up stream light stylus pro, extra batteries, knife sharpener, small first aid kit, multi tool bits and driver, tops folding saw. im looking for a small water filtration kit to add to this ever growing kit, or should i just carry water purification tabs? if a water filtration kit, what would you guys recomend?

This is the exact kind of thread wanted here.....I would always carry multiple water treatment methods.....i carry filter straw and chem. tabs as well

Just depends on the area and clarity fo water you are using as to what type of filter to get. This subject has been hashed out here a bunch of times so you might do a search.

Essentially it came down to always carry purification tabs in addition to a filtration system. (backup systems = good)
The Vario filter got good reviews, as did the MIOX electronic sterilizer & tabs.

thanks guys, while looking at that pump filter in that link i found these at basegear.com, aquamira drops, emergency water filter, sport water bottle filter. ill probably get all three and have my butt covered.
