Personal opinions - favorites side by side comparisons ?

Looking for IWB carry while I'm swimming etc...I've narrowed it down to native 5 salt versus Siren.

I am leaning towards the siren as it's a full size knife and I would like to also like it in my EDC rotation. So far I'm favoring the Siren.

H1 I ruled out due to reading it was best serrated and I prefer a se.

Main reason I'm considering up the native 5 is I like the yellow color and thumb gimping on the spine.
Also the manix 2 that I thought would be too small became my favorite.

Enable setting on !!

I went "no lock" over the weekend, ordered a Waterway. First try with the LC200N, looking forward to that steel. Pete over at Cedric and Ada put it over the top for me.

I can see how that could be confusing...I mean that I prefer a Plain edge / straight edge .
SE is serrated, PE is plain edge, and CE is combo edge. Also, my vote is for the Native Salt. I had a Siren, but the finger guard felt massive and obtrusive to me. It's all relative though..

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the caribbean.
Perfect size - g 10 handle -lc liners.

I'm just having trouble deciding on leaf blade or sheepsfoot..
Also strange to me that I haven't seen any bustle about the Caribbean here ?

I really like my siren for a no nonsense low maintenance blade but I also wouldn’t hesitate to carry a pacific salt IWB. I like larger blades so if I’m only carrying one I prefer it to be a little larger than the native.

I don’t think there’s as much buzz around the Caribbean as it’s a bit large for a lot of people to edc, especially in the width dimension for me.

Also, speaking of buzz, the bee color scheme isn’t the bee’s knees to a lot of folks.

As far as blade shape goes, no one can really decide that for you. However, I think the leaf shaped blade is more handy in general. Sheepsfoots (sheepsfeet?) aren’t really my jam unless they have a bit more belly and tip than a traditional sheepsfoot. Like the spydiechef’s blade profile, for example.

The nice thing about spyderco is that there really isn’t a bad choice. The worst thing about Spyderco is that it’s hard to pick a knife to buy because there’s too many good options. If you want a salt series knife, you’re in luck—they’re all pretty good.

I purchased the sheepsfoot caribbean.
I'll see what it's like when it gets here.
I usually like a larger knife than most people seem to prefer around here.

Personally I like the bee coloration.
Shrug.
It's good to hear there's no wrong choice !!

I have a Siren and a Atlantic.
Did own a Native and a PacSalt in PE.

If you don't like a regular Native to begin with. Your not going to like it in LC200N.
PE in H1 dulled fast.. But was ok with a rough field edge.

The Siren has some serious Rough texture
and I ended up sanding it down to where it feels like regular Spyderco G10 texture.

My go to water knifes are the
Atlantic Salt SE or Siren.

PRersonally I like the bee coloration.

The Caribbean should be here Fri.
I'm stupid excited for it.
It's lighter and close to the same size as my manix 2.
I think it will be perfect.

Your two choices in the OP were both backlocks, that means the stay closed by the backspring.

The Caribbean is a comp. lock. It's dependent on a detent ball/hole to keep it closed. There are some reports on the Caribbean of weak detent, you need to check for that immediately when you get your knife in hand. It can be quite dangerous..

Looking forward to hear your thoughts on the knife!

Love my Caribbean, great knife weak detent or not. I don’t find it “dangerous “ lol. lc200n kicks the crap out of H1 in every metric. I also have a native 5 salt which is awesome too.

I have the knife in pocket and it seems Great !! All the videos online portray it as a monster knife but .. I think the size is spot on.

I think 353 353 was referring to a weak detent on the compression lock.
Which at this point the lock on my knife seems sturdy and has good resistance.
I saw a video online of a guy baton wood with the Caribbean.

I'm a little surprised that this knife doesn't seem very popular.
Oh well.

I still may try either the native or siren in the future.

Yes, I would have liked the detent to be a bit stiffer as well. Purely because of flicking action. An example would be the spyderco military. The Millie flicks with Authority, but most compression locks don’t seem to have the same detent retention to get a really satisfying flick.
