I did a search and did'nt find much on this one other then being mentioned a few times. When I first pulled it out of the the box I thought to myself, what a queer looking little thing, and tossed it in the drawer next to my life raft knife. Later that day I got it back out and started to examine it a little closer. I like the way the indestructible derlin handle locks into the derlin sheath which also can be removed from the nylon belt loop sheath. On the back of the derlin sheath is a clip that lets it been worn upside down from a shoulder strap or scuba gear harness. Being lightweight and just over a half inch thick you would hardly know it was there. Though if I were a scuba diver I think I would want to carry a knife with a point at the tip of the blade. However the partially serrated Schrade+ blade is razor sharp and the groves on the top of the blade help to give your thumb a good firm grip. With that being siad, the only thing I can think of that might be good for is shucking clams. I'll find out on newyears eve when I make my annual clams casino appetizer for the family.

I have a couple of those, my favorite being a 'Rocky Mt. Elk Foundation' commemorative set that included a water resistant flashlite... say what??? How did the Elk hunters find a white water rafting/ scuba knife to be up their alley? Anyway, I value it 'cause a friend here sent it to me and it is a cool knife.

I was issued my NAUI scuba certification while living in Florida in the 1970s. A blunt end knife really is a good, fine idea. Unlike our forum Hero, Mr Bridges, scuba divers don't get into knife fights with Sharks... they pry abalones free from rocks, dig in the shell/gravel, cut fishing line or nets they get tangled in, and communicate with a fellow diver by tapping knife on tank. None of those tasks needs a pointed knife.

Don't forget cutting their foe's air hoses and opening treasure chests!! Yes, the blunt tip and thick prying blade is a diver's choice.

My diving is all in swimming pools, so I don't use a large dive knife, just the 897UH to cut vinyl.

I had the WR1 RMEF set, but it went to the GCA effort. A much better use than it would have found with me.

I have a difficult time with the diver's associations. They give me hell over buying diving equipment without a certification. Several affiliated shops refused to sell me a good mask and weight belt. None would sell me the small volume tank. I just bought my own portable diving compressor and dive on a tethered air line.

Well that shows you how much I know about scuba diving but it sounds like I have the right knife for it.
Thanks Rick

Interesting thread here.

Especially the subliminal thread drift.
I learn new stuff here most every day.

Like.....

I mean, I had no idea Codger was in the record business...  .....I mean I was impressed with LT having his own "Greatest Knives" CD and all...but Codger is into vinyl!! Who knew?? ;)

Rick, I apologize in advance for the less than subliminal drift...But I just couldn't help myself. :o :D

Actually, Bill, I do have a record album. It never made the hit parade though. It was all classics like "Up, Up, and Away", "Sunrise, Sunset", "Both sides now", "Aquarius", and other now golden oldies. Eleven backup singers and three instrumentalists, "The Dozen Plus Three". Got to meet Justin Wilson and Jerry Clowers backstage at one of our concerts.

Oh, and the pool liners are vinyl. Heck, no one makes records anymore. Hard to even find a cassette, much less an 8-track or LP.

Codger.......................>:D
