Guys,
I'm fixing to set up a water cooling system for my 2x72 sander. I'm planning on using a simple system of a container with a small hose and a valve to regulate the flow. A drain under the sander to catch and funnel the water and grit into a bucket or into my shopvac (ain't made up my mind which yet).

Does anyone out there have a sprayer hookup on their sander? If so, what would you suggest as being the best way to go? Maybe a filtered system with a pump to pump the filter water back into the resevoir?

Questions, Questions, Questions!!!!

I will make one suggestion. Place a sponge under the contact wheel at the lowest point. Be sure it rests in a container (I use a Home Depot drywall mud holder) and that the sponge is in solid contact with the belt. This helps to cut down the amount of water slinging off of the belt onto the wall. If kept moist will also cool the belt.

The easiest thing is a tank of water sitting above the outlet to the grinder. Put in a simple valve and you can regulate the drip.
Check out any lapidary supply house for spray pumps, pans whatever.

If your grinders reversible you may want to look into getting some of those glasses with the little windsheild wipers on them

Make sure your grinder has a grounded and sealed motor, and a double insulated cord. Another thing you should check out is one of the new safety outlets. That have a breaker in them that pops whenever the circuit gets shorted. They're not that expensive, and getting shocked sucks.

Fix it right the first time, use Baling Wire !

Wouldn't the water travel around the belt and hit you in the face. Just like the grinder dust.
That would make it a little hard to see what you are doing.
