Water tabs - individually wrapped

Alright... I've seen these somewhere and now I can't remember where, and it's driving me crazy. I was going through my kits last night and I thought 'Individually wrapped water purification tablets would go great in here. Now where did I see them?'

I wish I had ordered them when I saw them, but didn't. My understanding is that they're current military issue. Back in my day, we still carried the bottles. And you know what happens to the tabs in bottles after they're exposed to air.

So if anyone has seen individually wrapped water purification tablets on the market, I'd appreciate a lead.

I've never seen them.

If you are looking for something compact and light to fit in your survival gear for emergencies... I use the regular iodine tablets in a bottle. For around $4 1/2 dollars it isn't a bad deal... I just replace them as needed. I'll bet the single wrapped ones cost a lot more.

For daily use... consider the polar pure (iodine system) or a commercial pump.

Hi Ramius,

They are sold in Europe (Holland and Germany) under the name "Micropur" and come in tablets for 1 quart a tablet and for about 3 gallons a tablet.
It works by silver ions in solution.

100 1 quart tablets cost about $15 so it's rather expensive compared to polar pure which costs about $10 and purifies hundreths of gallons.

Cheers from Holland,

The Micropur crystal packets are available from brigade quartermasters.

I individually pack them with my own with a hand held seam sealer and they are good for a couple of years.I vacum pack and seam seal everything in my survivla kits as well as having a few aquasafe puches in the bottom of my pack.

I'll check out the Micropur... thanks.

As for the other suggestions, I've got resublimated USP iodine, water tabs, and a pump. I'm looking specifically for a method of water purification that will fit in my small survival kits.

Thanks for the help.
