Water

I have been keeping an eye on the spill. Glad to hear you have options.

I have yet to hear what chemical was released. Anyone know?

Now declared a state and national emergency.

The spill of 4-Methylcyclohexane Methanol, or Crude MCHM, a chemical used in the coal industry, occurred on Thursday on the Elk River in Charleston, West Virginia's capital and largest city, upriver from the plant run by West Virginia American Water. Water carrying this chemical has an odor like licorice or anise, McIntyre said.

took me a while to dig out the valves today so I could get the well water on.

Problem here is WV American Water company, a private company has sucked up a bunch of public funds to expand service to a huge area. They closed our water treatment facility and started piping it from WV American.

They get their water from the Elk which has numerous chemical plants along it anyway.

From a survival standpoint it's messed up to have that many people dependant on a single source.

There's a number of towns in the area that still have their county owned or city owned water treatment plants and those are ok.
