I'd just like to pay homage to some of the forum members that have been putting some great posts on recently and definitely can't be classed as watered down !!!!

Mistwalker...awesome threads recently !;)
Kgd,
Millhouse,
WILLIAM.M,
Sicily02,

And as always a special mention to DocCanada whose plant threads I always cherish !!!!!:D

There are many more who I apologise for not mentioning but these came straight to mind !!!!!;)

Not to mention that Pitdog character. Not sure if you have saw any of them, but he has 2 awesome dogs, and some pretty amazing views that are often posted for us to see. ;)

I'm going to have to give Kevin a nod here, as his "watered down" thread seems to have indirectly started multiple threads whose sole intentions are to prove him wrong;)

Some people just let the weather get under their skin a little too much. This place is busting at the seams with really fantastic people. Always a great place to kill some time and learn something.

Thanks Pit. Your kind words have bought a tear to my eye.

I really love your posts too (do we have a man love thing going on here :D).

All the best for the new year.

(Mr. Burns voice, rubbing hands together) Perhaps his master plan is coming along nicely . . .

Ahw shucks, lots of great posters. Tonym's video request thread was genius (I just bumped it up) and Mdv25 contributed a number of the vids to it. Codger64's pad thread was great. There are a pile of good skills threads happening. You just have to look around :D

There has been some awesome posts here recently that I have learned a lot from, everything from new knife and gear reveiws to little tricks to start a fire. I hope they keep them coming.

Thanks Pit dog, All the places you hike and walk in and the land scape that you post is truely awesome lol.

There really are some great threads here on this forum.

Maybe Kevin was trying some of that reverse psychology stuff lol

i agree Pit... give yourself a pat on the back as well, i always look forward to your threads man... i love that Maisy dog too...:D

I'm a noob to the WSS forum, so when I read the watered down thread I wasn't sure what to think. All I do know is this; this is the best place on the internet I've found for talking about and listening to survival skills being discussed. Something I've been obsessed with since I was a child. I admit some of the threads can get repetitive or focused on one type of gear or brand of gear; but I figure thats just the nature of people. You focus on what you know, and what you know you can trust. But this has become my second home on the internet as there is always something interesting to read or an chance to share my own opinion. I find nothing wrong with encouraging folks to higher standards, but if this is watered down then I'm very sad that I didn't get to see this forum when it was at it's height of quality. In the meantime I'll keep hanging around because this is simply the best place, with the best people I've found thus far.

I agree that some of this can be attribuuted to cabin fever. I've noticed this before, both here and on other forums I've frequented.

I think WSS is an awesome place to hang out. To the extent I have contributed to its decline, whether through (what I thought were) witty comments, letting my inner gear whore run amok, or downright whacky gear ideas, I'm sorry.

I'll do my best to filter out the sarcasm and goofball stuff for a while.

Man, I'm dying to get out!

Five thumbs up! And, though he's too modest to do so himself, we can throw pitdog himself in there, too, along with many others.

Great stuff, guys.

Thanks Pit

The others you mentioned are far above me-But I try.

I always look forward to your posts

Now I feel bad. I am probably one of the ones guilty of watering down the topics.
I have a new found hobby of getting outdoors and doing something. This past year I found out my health was suffering from a sedentary lifestyle, so I started getting out in the woods and cutting, cooking, building shelters and all of those things I am learning to do here. I've lost 30 pounds by getting back to being outside and active. I have learned so much from the knowlegable people here on this forum who have been patient with my simpleton questions. I apologize if this is not the proper place for a beginner to ask questions.
By the way, I'm not going anywhere, I love this forum.

By all means no. In part this thread was to help pad some of the contributors on the back. However, the mandate of W&SS in my mind is more broadly to educate and inform rather than to have a group of pals talk at a card table about different stuff. Lots of the later goes on and that is all good too, but getting more experienced people in touch with less experienced people to promote learning is a far better role. Keep asking your questions. Believe it or not, even the top dogs learn stuff by constantly revisiting the basics and see the collective input of the multitudes!
