I'm new to this forum and wanted to see if others have heard about waterjet machining of titanium and nitinol type knife blade blanks. This cold machining process allows much more efficient cutting of difficult to machine materials. We recently machined a large lot of blades for a knife maker and he found that our machining process was significantly less expensive than conventionally machined blanks. The nitinol blades , which are excellent for salt water (highly corrosive) environments, are cut very quickly and accurately without heat damage, using ultra high pressure waterjet machining. I just surfed on over to your site. Very impresssive technology! I suggest knifemakers go and have a look. Lots of ideas pop into the mind when you see some of things that you can do...

i have never heard of anyone using nitinol as a blade material, sounds very interesting, you could bend your knife then heat it back up to straighten it out.

Do you have any performance data on nitinol blades?
