Rusty, wanted to start a new thread for followups to your idea.

Here's a quick way to watermark an image.
Sort of an embrossing.

Done in ThumbsPlus by grabbing a 'name' image from the HI website
that had the name on a simple background.
Cropped name out and saved it.
Converting it to greyscale.
Reduced contrast & brightened image.
(so it was easily visible in the final watermarked image,
but not overwhelming).
Combined the name image into the khuk image to be watermarked.
(used multiply option of combine.)

Many other ways to accomplish same or similar.

Thanks for help. Maybe you can explain it to Uncle later.
( Sounds simple if you can follow Greek!!!! :D :D :D )

I don't have time to do the work myself,
SWMBO is after me on too many unfinished projects in the house.

But I'd be glad to help if someone wants to learn how.

The are commercial watermark registration businesses that
offer various watermark options for a yearly registration fee.
Digimarc is a big name there.

Here's a link to a Google search on digital watermarking:
http://www.google.com/search?num=100&as_qdr=all&q=digital+watermarking+tutorial

If that link line is too long, go to www.google.com
and search for :

--or
digital watermarking tutorial

Most image editing or processing programs explicitly offer a
Watermarking option, but usually require Digimarc or other
registration to work.

Some watermarking is invisible, but for HI needs,
a visible watermark would more likely discourage image use
by other businesses.

Thanks again!

It's just something that has to be put on the back burner - for now.

I'm pretty sure Beo has Photoshop and if so, could just create a semi-transparent layer with a logo in the bottom corner, and then copy/paste it throughout the website.

It's quite an undertaking, though. Personally, I don't have the time to do it. And I'm not sure it's worth it. Because anybody with even mediocre photo-editing skills can just paint over the watermark, or blur it, or crop it smaller, etc.

Thanks, Pen. Might be worthwhile down the road on the new pictures. Or maybe not. If Uncle simply turns the side of the khuk with the HI logo up and highlights the logo area with pink marker that would do it, methinks.

Then we could all discuss methods of removing the pink marker from our new khuks.

:p :p :p ( Not exactly tongue-in-cheek! )

That's why in my example I overlaid the khukuri with the watermark.
Otherwise just as you say.....too easy to get rid of it.
