i'm looking to get a new backpack to switch out of my messenger bags (i have a timbuk2 and chrome, both heavily used).

i'm interested in getting real backpack. messenger bags are nice... but sometimes i like my pack to ride tight to my body, and i'd like to be using both shoulders (the single strap design of messenger bags gets to be a pain).

the one reason why i switched to using messenger bags is that they are very waterproof. my chrome and timbuk2 always keeps things dry. even once, a bottle spilled inside my timbuk2--the bag kept all the water in and i never knew the difference until my commute home, resulting in a fried ipod and a semesters worth of wet notes.

anyhow. can anyone recommend a good, large (<~2000cu. in.) backpack that's waterproof? i saw chrome's backpack line, but am not too impressed.

i'm interested in tadgear's fast pack
http://tadgear.com/x-treme gear/packs main/f_a_s_t__pack_alpha.htm
but don't see anything about waterproofing.

ideas?

thanks.

Hi Midget, have you seen the review on this site: http://www.militarymorons.com/ (scroll down and on the right hand side youll see "TADgear F.A.S.T. pack alpha Gen2") i believe they state it is "...heavily coated on the inside with waterproofing" They also say that the pack is made of 1000D Cordura nylon. not sure how weather resistant it is but i know that timbuk2 uses it in their custom bags.

Take a look at Arcteryx . They might have something that might interest you.
