Hey all, hows it going? I just got a set of choseras recently 400,1000,3000. Love the stones cutting and or polishing ability, and the question is, down the road I am most likely going to get a naniwa snow white 8k and was wondering If I needed a stone, say the chosera 5k, to bridge the gap.

3k to 8k works fine but I would ask, for what reason do you want the 8k?

My Snow White is mainly used for Straight razors or chisels, I find it complete overkill on a knife though.

Yeah. My max for most of my knives is 3K. Especially kitchen knives where I stop at 1k-2k.

straight razors I use 8k coti and above knives I stop at the approx. 4k blue Belgium. I saw no need for any more polish, it seems knives dull to fast in use at the 8k level.

buy a coti and an apache strata and enjoy the edges on the razors. I have used straights for over 40 yrs . I used to think the 8k Norton gave a good edge, now I doubt if my whiskers could stand an 8k edge.
