The Waterway IS on the discontinued list for 2024, per Kristi's annual listing in the Spyderco forum..
He doesn’t post much anymore at Spyderco forumsI really dont understand this. The knife is genious and is sellig well.
Maybe there is some dispute around the colab with Lance Clinton or there is an updated version comming out?
I tend to agree with you.. the knives on the DC'd lists each year usually make sense to me, but I was really surprised seeing that the Siren was discontinued for 2023 last year (especially since so much effort was put into CQI'ing the lock bar tolerance issues) and now the Waterway this year. My assumption at the end of 2022 was that they would be re-doing the Siren in MagnaCut due the hype around it as a "Salt" steel at the time.. but that hasn't happened.. and now it would appear that both of Lance's designs have been DC'd. For good or maybe to be released in another configuration? I don't know.I really dont understand this. The knife is genious and is sellig well.

It may be as simple as the sales figures just don't just don't makes sense to Spyderco, but I also get the sense that there is more to it.. Lance used to be very active on the Spyderco forum, but has not posted much (at all?) since around the time the Siren lock-up issues started to surface (iirc). Some sort of falling out seems plausible. We may never know the real reasons behind the discontinuation.. I think both parties are classy enough to not to speak ill of each other. Regardless, the Siren & Waterway are great knives and I'm glad to have them both in my accumulation!
Same on both accounts. I'd love a similar design to the waterway in magnacut. Shorten the handle a bit and keep it affordable. I bet it would sell like hot cakes.Agreed, I'm very happy with my Waterway and glad I have it in my stable, especially if it doesn't reappear.
I suspect spyderco will issue a similar design in the future though, most likely in MagnaCut.
