Wave Feature?

I have a question about the wave system. Can your knife still be effectively opened if your not standing. I have a spyderco which has been modified to wave, but can only do so when it is drawn from the pocket in a standing position. Do the emerson designs share the same limitation?

Thanks

yes i think they would, i dont know if i would wanna do it real fast though, might cut your britches up, i have a lanyard on most of my EKI's and i'm sure ya could wave them while sitting, certainly not nearly as fast as standing though of course. also might depend on how loose/tight your pants are, and which model of EKI (ie the commander has a larger lip than say a SOCFK) but i have waved my SOCFK open while sitting outta BDU pants FWIW.

Any thoughts on emersons' "rapid deployment sheath"? Speed isn't really a prioroity to me, but I generally like carrying in sheaths rather than in my pocket.

i have never even seen one a lot of folks really like them though, i just dont care for a sheath with a folder unless its a really big folder like a strider AR or something, so i have never looked into them. but i have only heard good about them myself FWIW.

does EKI still make them? IIRC they were disco'd or maybe they are just difficult to find.

They're temporarily unavailable from eki. I don't know if there is any other stores that currently carry them. As far as i know they only make them for certain knives anyway.

I can draw my Kerambit, or a CQC 7 while sitting (both are waved). I think the process of drawing while not standing depends on your need for time, and your deployment speed. I haven't had any issues that would cause me to regret the Wave, just had to change the way I was pulling the knife out of my pocket.
