Hello everyone,
After dropping my first Leatherman wave into the drink while fishin' last year, I have decided to attach a lanyard to my new Wave. My question is how do I fold the lanyard ring out without damaging the tool? It just does not seem to want to fold out easily.
Also, can anyone tell me the differences between older leatherman tools and the newer generation models? My older leatherman came with a different sheath, (leather) but that's the only immideate difference I can see.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bill

If you have a newer-version Wave, the lanyard ring actually slides out from the body of the tool. If you open the saw (ba careful when gripping it with the saw blade open), you will see the lanyard ring resting against the inside wall of the knife where the end of the saw was when it was closed. I use a swiss army knife screwdriver blade to place inside and behind the lanyard rin and push on the end of the ring toward the bottom of the knife handle. You will see the lanyard ring slide out into position.

There is also an optional ring you can purchase from Leatherman that clips in to the same slot where the pocket clip attaches. This is a very handy item to have when you are using a lanyard as well.

Hope that helps.
