I don't know if you all are aware of this interesting mod I came across the other day on the internet. Ok, so if you have a folder with a circular opener in the blade, you get a ziptie and tiptie it to the part of the circle thats on the spine. Snip the extra ziptie off and leave the square ratchet part directly on the spine. Insert in pocket and voila, it's waved!

It's been done. I tried it and didn't like the results. Half the time it waved, half the time it didn't. Eh.

If anything, it's a great way to convince yourself you want a Waved Spyderco Delica to match your regular Delica. At least that's how it happened with me...

If it doesn't work all the time try a bigger ziptie. The 1/3 inch thick black ones work pretty good, however, I only use them on work knives.

It's better to just break out the dremel - much more consistent.
STR does really nice ones with having to "break" the hole.

I do that with all my spidies and any other knife i pick up with thumb holes. works great with zip cuffs because the thicker the zip tie the better. i have an endura that i used to carry alot and it had three zipties and 550 chord used to space themugly as hell but it worked everytime.

I saw that on a site somewhere yes. That was thinking outside the box. I actually really dislike the wave feature on a knife personally. I have a couple and they've wrecked my jeans the few times I've used them and they always seem to open partially when I don't want them to because I grab at them sloppy like. If I only carried one style knife (waved) or one knife for that matter it might not be too bad because I would get used to it but I don't and I actually ground off wave feature on one knife I own.

i put zip ties on most of my tip Up folders with thumbholes and i find they actually wave better than my folders with metal waves, my best guess being that the metal waves engage against the pocket before they reach the lip so they just snag, while the zip ties just hit the pocket and SNAP open in a flash, i actually would trust my Zip ties over my metal any day.

Cheers!

I don't see how you wave a tip down carry knife. The blade is on the wrong side of the pocket and the blade is,well, pointing down.

...just like a real Wave. :p

I carry an Emerson SOCFK everyday as my just in case knife and I draw it as often as I can to build the reflex. I have never noticed any pocket wear from the wave. A little from the clip maybe.

I think the ziptie idea works best for lighter weight blades like the Spydercos.
