A question for all of you Wave and Surge owner.

I just bought my first multitool, a LM Surge. It is big and heavy. I still haven't decided if it's too big and return it for a Wave instead.
But with both tools the same problem will arise, where do you keep the second bit that comes with them?
I don't want to buy the bit kit and I intend to carry it in the belt pouch.

Thanks
Stef

Sorry Buddy but I don't understand you, the Surge and the Wave both comes with 2 bits installed, one is the phillips double end bit and the other one is the little bit double end driver, you keep it installed in the tool all the time.
You dont have to worry about the bits.

I agree with you the Surge is just too big, The Wave is ok but I preffer the Charge Ti because of the main 154 blade.
Get rid of the Surge and get yourself a Wave or a Charge.

Check the Leatherman site: http://www.leatherman.com/products/tools/wave-(2004)/default.asp

With the Surge I bought, came two large double ended bit and I'm not talking about the tiny size screw driver for glasses. Those large bits are:
- one phillips/flat bit combinaison
- one Robertson #2/Robertson #4 combinaison

There is only one large bit driver on the tool, so where do you keep the second handy?

Hi Stef,

I think you ended up with the extra bit by mistake. The Surge should have come with only the bits that are in the tool and a file in a plastic holder. That can be exchanged for the saw blade on the Surge. The extra blade in the vinyl holder fits in the elastic pouch in the Surge sheath.

You probably need to call customer service at Leatherman. I'm sure they'll take care of you.

Best - Joe

You get something for free and you're complaining ?
I'm not complaining, I didn't know it was a mistake.
Now, that Robertson bit is mighty useful, so I still don't know where to keep it.

Hi Stef,

Did your Surge come with the leather or nylon pouch. The Leather one should have three (3) elastic pockets inside. I'm sure the bit would fit in one of those.

Anyone with the Nylon pouch - please jump in.

Joe

I know, its just that those elastic pouch are bottom less, they are elastic tubes, so there is a chance to loose the bit.

BTW, I went to another store to check-out the Wave, and it had a second large bit also. It seams that they all come with a second bit. :-)

I tried to store the bit within the tool, but it fell off. I've got the leather sheath and the surge is really tight in it, so putting the bit in the back puch (with the exhangeable saw) was cumbersome when I wantedt to put the tool back in the sheath.

I guess i'll have to email LM to get an idea.

Stef
