I recently purchased a "waved" CQC7 Enerson. Just Love the knife; with the exception of 1 thing: The chisel grind (one sided) on the knife, It doesn't agree with me at all. With the 1 side grind at about 35 degrees how can I get an even 15 degrees on both sides? I have several manual sharpeners (std arkansas, Spyderco Sharpmaker 204 with diamond rods , DMT with all the stones ,and several diamond grit handled shatpeners. also a henkels that will do both sides at a at a time. I would rather not go to an electric sharpener, chef's choice 120. That just messed up the blade significantly (had to send the knife back to emerson to get original grind back on. Any suggestions or better, instructions would be greatly appreciated. If not, will Emerson do this for me? Thank you much, Dave Halliday

Um... actually, that just shows how to sharpen, not how to sharpen it on both sides.

My advice: First, call EKC. If they'll re-sharpen a knife for you, there's a possibility they'll put a standard grind on it for you? But be warned... it'll look a little funky. Due to the geometry of what you're proposing, they'll have to grind way back on the beveled edge to get a "normal" 15 degree grind at the current edge of the knife.

If they can't help, adn you're still bound and determined to go at it on your own...

Well, depite all the sharpening tools you have, I'd recommend the lansky. Normally, I'm all about doing things freehand, and having a better feel for the knife and all that, but when I re-ground my -7A to make for a sharper edge, I used the rig. Just tape up the blade, (to keep the clamp from scratching) and go at it. It was just easier to keep a reliable bevel with the clamp. I'd recommend you re-sparpen only one side first, and see how you like it... re-grind it to sharper than factory edge. That factory angle is so bizzarre. If that sharper bevel still doesn't do it for you, then go ahead, re-tape, and get back to grinding. But be prepared to be at it for a while.

All hail emerson... as of tonite, I'll soon have 6 emersons in total, meaning emerson has caught up to BM in my collection. And if the production Kerambit comes down the pipe soon, well, BM will be outnumbered I'm afraid.

Doh.. sorry...

I've used a Lansky set to put a normal edge on 2 of my commanders, it worked but took "forever".

Good luck :)

(edited because of Swedishness..)
