I got my Waved Delica 4 today. I was very fortunate to have contacted NGK a couple days ago to inquire about their expected availability and learned that they had just one, so I said I'd take it.

Pretty cool! I'll bet you're happy! :)
I have never used or handled a "waved" knife. As I understand it, that wave hook is to be used to catch a pocket on its way out, to pivot the blade open? Is this a useful function; does it work reliably and safely?

I like the blade shape that results -- more of a spear point than the Delica usually has.
Enjoy!

Greetings everyone.

I can't believe that is not in my hands. Got to find out if the knife shop here near my place has it.

RS2, those are some great pics. You're right, can't really tell it is black until it is side-by-side with the original.

Peacefuljeffery. You've got to try it. It is so simple, that is what makes it reliable. You have got to try it so that you will know why everyone says that it opens faster than a switchblade. It is true.

Stay sharp!

The wave is the fastest way of opening a folder and does so reliable with a little bit of practice. Unlike an unwaved folder I do not carry it pressed against the seam of the pocket but give it some room to move and I pull it with a little pressure to the side.
It opens bottles rather well too but I must admit the bottle opener on my SAK works better.

I have a Waved Endura, and it is definitly FAST. I agree with Gerard, its better to leave some room in the pocket, atleast for the front pockets. I carry mine in my left back pocket, and push it pretty close to the seam line, with no problem.

That blade is stamped VG10... what does 103V mean?

(Yep, I'm clueless, and probably giving away the fact that I am NOT up on the latest greatest steels...)

(I also can never keep straight what steels go by more than one name and can be referred to interchangeably...)

The 103V has nothing to do with the steel, which is VG-10. Rather, it is a Spyderco Collectors Club number that NGK evidently had in stock and was not reserved for a specific collector. Thus, they were kind enough to sell it to me. :)

I have 4 endura wave knives... and the wave is so fast and the blade will cut paper in the air.. I prefer the waved type knives at times dependent of course what state I am visiting.. for most of the time I carry the BM 5000SBT black blade plain, or the MOD MPAK T serrated.. but very fast and deadly auto knives. I am just fortunate being in the the military that I am allowed to legally have these on my person in VA. Wave is just like an auto, but I believe alot faster.. and the Emerson line CQC7s are awesome. I am a lefty, and it deploys to the front left pocket, but ensuring I am making a counter clockwise 45 degree deployment.. and it is fast..
