What are your guy's thoughts? I like the looks of it, but am not sure if I want one or not. How robust is the tip? Does it wave well? Convince me to buy or not to buy!

That big ole wave hook makes it quite easy to wave from the pocket. Some would argue that it works better than actual Emersons. I would think that the tip is robust enough for whatever you need it to do. If you are worried about breaking it, then a sub 3 inch blade is probably not the right tool for the job.

I had one for a very short time. Very well made and extremely sharp. Traded it off because it wasn't as smooth opening as my other Delica, an old school clip-it w/ the plastic molded clip. I don't think it was the knife as much as it being new and me not giving it the time to break it in to smooth out.

If you like the looks and can afford it, go for it.

People talk about assisted openers or autos coming open in their pocket. My one incident has been with a waved blade. Was open and sliced my finger open, no more waves for me...lol

Yea, that can happen.

To make sure it doesn't, when you start to pull the knife out, turn it so the wave points towards you leg and then pull. This way the wave does not hook on your pocket.

You can also place your finger (middle, ring or pinky whichever is comfortable) behind where the blade's tip rests in the handle. That way, when you pull it out, your finger will be blocking the blade from waving out.

The knife itself was good as far as function. Traded mine away because I wasn't a fan of the wave from the pocket.

I don't like having to make a conscious effort to keep my blade from opening as it's drawn.
This is also why I don't like the combination of weak side thumb studs, light detent, and tip up carry.

I absolutely love the waved endura and delica. They do wave better/easier than my Emersons. I believe they are one of the best EDCs you can get. I wish Spyderco would do more waved models, or even a sprint of the existing ones in a high-end steel.

Enjoy!

I have a waved Endura, and my brother has a FFG version. Mine has a noticeably more robust tip. I would imagine the same goes for the Delica, being the grinds are different as well.

On another note, I busted the tip of my FFG Delica. Derp.
