ive been looking at this particular knife for a while now, and so far ive heard mostly good things about it but recently i heard and saw in a video review on youtube that there is some recognizable bladeplay which would be a deal breaker for me, anyone find this on theirs?

well anyways please post the pros and cons of the endura because i prefer to be sure before i buy

cheers!

Ive handled several and there was undeniable blade play on them, its not worth it IMO- i gave up on this model.

I have an Endura, a regular. It has extremely slight vertical play like all my other lockbacks. There's no clack-clack play; it's just that if I'm cutting something really tough and my thumb is against the spine rest and lockbar (where they meet), I can feel some very slight motion. It's nothing that makes me afraid to use the knife at all. One of my lockbacks is the Delica wave. It has the same "problem," and I've been using it for 4 months now.

the vertical play seems to stick with those lockbacks, but theres no need to worry about lock fail in actual use, i wont happen.
all my lockbacks have it, and ive used those knives with zero problems
the endura is a hard work knife, strong enough to handle many tasks, even some abuse, but that vertical small (small small) play, its something that you have to live with :D
but to actually feel the vertical play in a knife like the endura, you have to push it hard enough to make it move, its not like it swings in there...
you should handle one to better see for yourself, but my recomandation is to get it anyway, its a good knife overall

A bit disappointing :(, my byrd cara cara has absolutely no blade play in any direction even if I try wiggle it my hardest.

My waved Endura 4 doesn't have what I would call "blade-play".
It does have the faintest of vertical wiggle like nearly all lock-backs....which is not a problem at all in my opinion.

And there is no side-to-side blade-play....besides, the pivot is adjustable.

All the Enduras I've handled (About 4 gen 4's and one gen 3) Have had some vertical play when pushing hard against the cutting edge. The locks have all been reliable and secure though.

Pros:

-Very lightweight for its size
-Refined pocket clip design with 4 way mounting and smooth contact area on the handle scale
-Excellent FRN texture
-VG10 is good steel
-Secure lock

Cons:

-Absolutely terrible geometry from factory. Normally Spyderco has better than average blade geometry but the stock Endura 4's are the worst cutters I've seen from Spyderco.
-I don't like the ergos. With either my first two fingers in the first cutout or just my index finger, neither grip feels "right." I wish they'd redesign the ergonomics.
-They're a little rough to open the first day or two of use in my experience. They smooth out considerably over the first week of use.

I think overall it's a very nice knife, but the very obtuse saber grind and the goofy handle ergos keep it from being a favorite of mine. The grind is easy to fix, the handle I don't know what I should do about it.

None at all on my well broken in model, it locks up solid! I have more confidence in the E4 then any frn model I've tried so far.

thanks for the input guys, i think ill go for it the design is nice, and from what ive heard here as well as a quick test run at the local surplus store i think ill get one i dont have any spyderco's yet and this seems like a good first spydie

I have the Waved Endura and it is a great knife thus far. It is very solid and has absolutely NO bladeplay at all. I definitely recommend this knife to anyone who is interested.

I have one and use it for a work knife. For what it costs it is okay but not great.

No play in mine...it's part of my weekend EDC and is used only lightly. I am very happy with it!

I've owned several lock back models from Spyderco and they all had slight vertical play when cutting downwards. This is NOT a negative in my opinion and is completely normal for lock backs. If you get play in any other direction, that wouldn't be good IMO but I've never experienced that with any of Spyderco's lock backs.

Considering all that, I think the Endura Wave is one of the best value knives on the market today in any price range. I say get it.

Must be hit or miss with the Enduras. I had a regular E4 with plenty of blade-play, but recently got an E4W and it has absolutly no felt blade-play in any direction. All in all, while they're definately not the best cutters in the world, they're still a good knife for the money.
