Hello,
I was just wondering earlier (during a long car trip, lol) how people would feel about a waved military? I personally don't care much for the wave, so it really wouldn't excite me much, but i am curious about what you guys think? Who would like to see a waved military?

personally, and this is just my opinion,i think the wave on a spyderco looks like crap.the millie is a great design,i love mine, and to change the design in any way to me would just ruin it.but i do understand the concept,im sure mall ninjas everywhere will be tying zip ties to their millies after reading this thread lol.

not sure, curious to see how the tip up works out first. Personally, Im not much for slammin liners open, a wave wouldnt make me feel any better about it.

I want to add that I DO LOVE ALL the FRN waved models thus far!!!! Fun, nice priced, and VERY functional. PROPS SPYDERCO, thanks Emerson.

An Emerson opener requires tip up carry. Far as I know, Spyderco has never sold the Military drilled for tip up. Considering the heavy blade and relatively weak ball detent which holds it closed, that's probably not something Spyderco would want to change.

As for me, not a fan of clipped carry or the wave, and the Military whether waved or not is too big to carry in my back pocket.

I carry the Military clipped to my back pocket.

It doesn't need a wave, with that big opening hole and heavy blade, it snaps open fast and easily enough for my convenience. I never intended it for Main Street at high noon.

As others have said the clip ( they should fix this; POLICE 3)

Also, how it was done on delica/endura is just plain ugly. :barf:

Emerson waves are discreet, almost need to be pointed out some.

Spyderco's are......................not.

I liked Charlie Mike's P3 wave, just not the "texas toothpick" grind

:)

Emerson waves may be discreet, but Spyderco's are more effective and less destructive.

I guess as long as it performs, thats the main thing.:o

I just dont like the look it give's overall.

Also I have an older endura and probably wouldn't update just for the wave function.

Now flat grind on the other hand...... looking foward to that!

:)

I tried a couple of Emersons with the wave a few years back, and did not like the feature at all.

IMO With practice you can open a knife quick enough without it.

Truth be told, I would rarely use wave anyway.

Most times I would prefer Flipper,Hole,Studs,Disc....etc.

Just nice to have the option sometimes.

:)

I'm not certain a longer blade with the wave would work all that well (i.e. Police and Military) if intended for SD use - the drawstroke would be quite long compared to say... a smaller folder (P'kal, Delica) or a handgun. Just for the hell of it though, the locks would need to be reinforced somehow (thicker liner-lock with harder surface, somehow prevent damage to the locking bar, etc).
