Waved opening

He's probably cut out part of the Spydie (Benchmade, rather, I guess) hole so as to leave a small "hook" shape, with the tip of the hook pointing towards the front of the blade. This way, when you pull it out of a pocket, towards the back, the hook catches and the blade flips open. Like the Emerson Commander.

Other people have reported success in giving Spyderco knives "wave" functionality by simply strapping a plastic Zip Tie through the hole, with the square part on the end snugged down on the back of the blade.

I've never been enamored with the thought of takin' a dremel to my Spydies, but I have had terrific success puttin' a few zip ties through the opening hole of my Wegner. it was actually more reliable than my waved Emersons with a wider variety of clothing. It also doesn't hinder the opening hole for me, but that's probably a more individual thing.

Also have it on my Axis AFCK, Wifes Delica, and an Ascent. Once again all quite effective.

It takes a lil' tinkering to get it set up perfectly, but most anyone with two braincells to rub together can make it work with no problem.

Works great on the Enduras. In fact there are times when I think that it works better than the actual 'wave' on my commander.

I see my pic attempt didn't work
Yall explained it right though, another attempt! and BTW it was done using a carbide cutter in a milling machine. Ron
