Waving a Ritter Grip?

I just order a Ritter Grip, and I'm very excited. However, I've "waved" my 550HG by adding a zip tie to the hole so it catches the pocket.

What would be my options for the Ritter Grip? I posted about drilling a hole next to the thumbstud (or using the thumbstud hole) to put a zip tie in and to use it in a similar way. And I think that would work ok, but I was wondering if there were any alternative methods that anyone could think of?

L!

There's enough "meat" at the top to actually Dremel a real wave there.

I looked at doing it, but decided against as it works so well as is.

:)

Hum, seems like dremeling through S30v would be rather difficult. I liked the idea of drilling an extra hole, because it would be small, and wouldn't change the shape of the blade.

Hum...

Honestly, there is really no need (imo) to wave a Ritter. They open so smooth and fast as is :)

((goes and opens his full sized Ritter for pleasure))

Now wave a delica/endura, yes. Those are not nearly as smooth as a Ritter.

((waves is Delica4 wave for fun))

I used to wonder why EVERY knife wasn't waved either from the factory or modified by the user. Now, I see deformed knives (if modified by the user). Rather than permanently damage such a nice knife that, by the way, can open just as fast as any waved knife, STR has a patent on a device that adds a wave to thumb studed folders without and modification to the knife itself. It's really creative and it doesn't look bad at all.

I agree that the Griptilians don't need to be waved, but I've come to really enjoy it as an option. Just as whipping the Grips open in a few different ways is fun, as is waving the 550HG.

Is STR producing these now? Or is these a going to be a few years thing?

I was thinking about that as an option actually. machining some aluminum or some hard plastic that would match the stonewashed finish, and affix it somehow.

Are there any pictures of STR's concept? I'd love to save myself some hassle and support a local member.

Agreed. Support a member and leave that Ritter intact!! This constant need to "wave" fine blades is getting silly:eek:

I'm a prime example... a worst case Dremel tweaker.
