Waving your P'kal

It didn't on mine.
The blade has so little mass that it would be VERY difficult for it to peen the stop pin, and the lock adjusts for wear quite nicely; doesn't wear quickly either.
About the only knife I'd wave without any worries.
Wave away!

The P'kal is designed to be "waved" open. That is its intended function. During one of the classes I took with SouthNarc (the person responsible for the P'kal in this incarnation) when he traveled all the way up here to New York, he showed me how he prefers to carry it as far forward in the pocket as possible and demonstrated the draw and deployment of the knife for me. You're not going to injure the knife using it as intended.

Phil your review on Shivworks DVD led me to purchasing some of Southnarcs stuff. I was just curious about long term wear from repeated waving on this model, by the way I'm a Paxer.

Waving a knife should be fine. While it is fast, it doesn't come close to the force of a hard flick.
When you flick a knife open, each pivot in your arm adds a layer of speed, you could almost think of it as multipliers (get your body moving for some extra "thwack"). The combined movements result in excessive speed. Same principles as throwing a fast ball.
Get good at it and you can flick just about anything open, which makes those inertial opening laws very annoying.

Loss of momentum reduces or negates inertial force. IOW, a wave is more positive and consistent when someone is groping on you with ill intent. Yes, a fixed blade is better still, but trying to maintain legality as it now stands...
