hey everybody!

i am trying to make a engagement ring for my girlfriend. the ring is gonna look sorta like this:

i was trying to carve the trinity out of wax.. by hand.. and that WASNT working.. i know some of yall can do it.. but i cant.
so i drew it up on the computer in Inventor and we plotted it on the wax machine. here is what came out (after a little clean up)

i'll keep you posted.
thanks

That is awesome! And a pretty ring as well. She'll be tickled pink. A personal question here, but does she know you're working on this project, or is it a complete surprise?

Soon to be congratulations to you, Chris.

thanks guys!
it is a semi secret. she pointed out the ring.. and she knows i am gonna try and make it.. but then she doesnt know how far along i am.. or what i am doing..
hope that answers your question

Ah very cool Chris, your lucky to have that equipment. I definitely wouldn't want to hand carve that:eek: Just a heads up, be real careful packing that wax, plotted waxes are extremely brittle.

Dude! Congratulations, she'll say yes for sure.

You should apply this concept to making your own menuke. There, now it's knife related! ha! :)

Awesome work Chris! I'll bet not to many guys can boast that they made their girlfriend's engagement ring!

hey guys! thanks for the encouragement, it has been a lot of fun to make.
the band and trinities are white gold. i am gonna put it together next week with Stacy.

I really enjoy doing jewelry, and hope to do more if possible..
any critique would be appreciated.
thanks!

Hi Chris,

Looking good!

Are you planning on doing any more file work? Looks like you could do more on the out- and in-sides of the findings using some needle files and or jeweler's or dental rotary bits. The band too looks like it could be finished more. Most jewelers finish to 600 grit then go to the buffs.

Hope you take some good pix with Stacy. That'll be way cool!!!

All the best, Phil

Investment casting? It's working out pretty good! I admire the fact that you chose to make one instead of buy one  .

hey guys!

phil, i am not done by any means.. the band will be up to 600 at least. as will the trinities. the reason for casting them as seperate parts was to facilitate clean-up. i have just gotten started. i will do my best to take pictures with Stacy.

it is also alot cheaper to make your own ring, but that isnt WHY i am doing it.
thanks!
