Bought this thing today & was not impressed at all. I have a severe hearing problem [too much shell-fire ?] and after using it,noticed no difference.

Practical/junk gadget ?

Uncle Alan:confused:

If your hearing problems are due to past loud noise exposure, vacuuming isn't going to help. If you have wax buildup, vacuuming is also not likely to help as the stuff is stuck inside. You may get good results with the kits that consist of ear drops that dissolve wax and then a rubber bulb "ear syringe" for washing it out; you can get these at any drug store. But, if your problem is sever, you will need to have a doctor clean it out with proper tools (which is not something you should try yourself).

I have to use the kit that Gollnick describes about once a month or so or I end up with build up. I thought about buying one of those wax vacs, but I can't see putting any sucking device in your ear as a good idea.

WaxVac won't help this, Al. Blown out my eardrums several times over the years. Doc suggested using a flexible showerhead to run warm water in my ears when I'm in the shower, then drying them with a towel...and the age-old advice of "don't stick anything smaller than your elbow in your ear" as well.

Good news though! Newest advances in hearing aids makes them almost invisible!

I saw some news story on this product, and they called it a waste of money. What is wrong with hydrogen peroxide? They have made kits to get large amounts of ear wax out for years now too.

But, I use Q-tips... You know, those sticks that come in a box that says, "do not put these in your ears" on the back. :)

I have tinnitus, from too much loud music, being in a band, shooting with out ear protection, drag racing and what ever else I may have done... not much can help it. On top of that I blew out my right ear diving, still hurts to go below ~10 - 15 feet, flying sucks... You should consult your doctor if it's bothering you much...

As for cleaning, I used to use the ear drops, then I did the peroxide thing for a bit... now I just flush with HOT water in the shower...

My Grandmother got roped into the commercial and before we could stop her had ordered one. they sent her 3 somehow ( we dont know if this was her fault or theirs) and charged her around 300 or so. She also found they didnt work worth a fart and sent them all back.
