Waxing Blades

Greetings,

Anybody ever use wax, like car wax, on their blades (bare steel of course)?

I've been applying several layers of wax to my blades for some time. While probably not what you might want to do for something that will be used with food, and not a full substitute for an oil, it seems to offer some finish/surface treatment. It certainly doesn't seem to hurt.

Anybody else?

I sometimes use some carnuba floor wax on my knives, mostly for the handles.

For my kitchen knives, I'll use lip balm (which has some wax in it) or mineral oil. The kitchen knives are carbon steel ones, the SS ones don't get anything.
