Hellooo... Is anyone out there-er-er? Well if there is anyone who hasn't gone to the Bladeshow in Atlanta (where I won't be) I'd like to share my little exploits in shopping for knifemaking products today!
First, I went to Lowe's and discovered that they have discontinued their line of Watco products (I had hoped to find the paste wax that Watco makes). Irritating to say the least.
Second, a pleasant surprise, at the Ace hardware in a small town near Tallahassee, FL where I frequently go to do title searches at the county courthouse, I found, on a top shelf in a rusty can, Lundmark's pure carnauba wax in turpentine! I've never heard of this brand before and the folks at Ace didn't even know they had it, but the nearest thing I could find elsewhere was Johnson's paste wax, which doesn't even deign to tell you on the container what is in it.
As far as the bladeshow goes, well I had intended to go but the trip was not to be. Instead, I have a loving wife by my side, an adoring dog at my feet and a fridge full of Foster's to console me, (well actually my loving wife just informed me that there is only one left, and she's eyeing it!) Watco isn't the only thing that we need to start hording. For all of my fellow knifemakers that live on the Gulf Coast, it looks like the "Guh-mint" is gettin' ready to ban Dursban.

Maybe this should be put on the "Political Forum" but its kinda like this....

I don't care about no fightin' in Bosnia, I don't care about no trade with China! I just want to know when "they" are gonna do something about these God forsaken FIRE ANTS!!!

I believe I just came up with a new phrase for my profile.

Ha Tom, we called a truce and decided we'd both had enough! After digging around in there we found a Dundee's Honey Brown to keep the Foster's company. We'll have those tonight! (Two beers, though, I think a trip to Sam's is in order!)
C.L., I've stopped trying to poison those little red suckers, they just laugh at me, now I just make life uncomfortable for them with boiling water until they move elsewhere!-Guy Thomas
