Way of knowing who did the conversion??

Hi everyone out there!!

This is my first post here at bladeforums.com, and I thought it would be quite a classy start to post a Buck 110 question!

I have 4 Buck 110: One is a vintage, late 70´s (I have been told..)
2 are standard/contemporary,at this moment i don´t remeber the marking/ year of making.
I bought two identical, one for use - one for collecting!
I also have an auto-conversion of the "standard scaled" 110, it´s my favourite auto of all categorys!!!!
It is strictly a collectable, because of the price and all the work behind getting it all the way here :) , I live in Sweden.

But my first reason of posting is that I wonder if there´s a way of knowing who, what, where the conversion was made??? It has a leafspring, and the button is the oval version. Does Buck knives make any conversions themselves???

Even if this is hard to know without having any more background info it´s worth a shot!

Ok, now that I´m not a virgin anymore I hope to be a regular at this forum!! I have so many questions in my head, about all sorts of knives.

Hopefully someone has some ideas on the Buck Auto question to share.

See you!

Hey Martin...

I would not know personally but I am sure there are people that do. Could you post a pic?

Welcome to Bladeforums.com Martin.H!!! :D Please take a moment or two to visit our benefactors, Buck Knives http://www.buckknives.com/ and One Stop Knife Shop http://www.onestopknifeshop.com/ (Kevin owns this Forum!) ;) Please consider upgrading your membership and keep BladeForums.com open!!!

Buck has a very interesting Virtual Plant Tour at http://www.buckknives.com/plant_tour.php , a guide to Tang Stamp Codes at http://www.buckknives.com/collectors_vintage.php , a discussion of Steels used in Buck Knives at http://www.buckknives.com/technical_steel.php, you can order a Custom-Built Buck Knife at http://www.buckknives.com/custom_knife_shoppe.php, and there is a brief introduction to the Buck Collectors Club at http://www.buckknives.com/collectors_club.php. The Buck Collectors Club commissions special and unique versions of Buck knives for member sales only, so you might want to consider joining to gain access to some of these truly awesome knives!!! :)

If you have a problem posting pictures, there is a Quick & Dirty tutorial at Photobucket For Dummies. If you don't have a digital camera, but do have a scanner, lay your knife on the glass and throw a light colored towel/t-shirt/cloth over it and scan it. Save the pic, and follow the above instructions for posting pics.

I hope you understand that companies here do not advertise their involvement in converting knives to spring-assist. Buck does not do conversions, and any conversion voids any warranty.

...Hello Martin and like Mav said earlier...Welcome to the forum...There were and probably are, a few companies who have done the "conversions" of Buck knives into automatics. The most commonly mentioned are Paragon and Cumberland knife Works. Neither of them are doing the work now to my knowledge. The oval button was used by both of them at some point and by other "converters" I'm sure. Buck does not and has never made automatics nor have they done any of the "conversions" seen around the community. Our "official" greeter ( Chickentrax ) will hopefully be along shortly with the proper greeting and welcome to the forum...Stick around and have some fun...Lotsa Buck knowledge floating around this place...

Hi guys!

Thanks for your welcoming, and your inputs on the "convertion question"!

You confirmed the "rumors" I´ve heard about Buck never having converted any knives to auto.
The other companys might be the answer!
I had some knowledge of the "tangstamp-code list" but totally forgot about it..Thanks for reminding me!!!!
Really useful stuff!

I have a digital camera, and I will surely TRY to figure out how to post pictures.. I will take no shame in using "...for dummies" :D ( Nice stunt with the scanner by the way!)

Thanks for all the cool links, a lot of nice stuff to checkout.

I am sure I have a lot of fun coming my way on this forum, and equally much new knowledge!

Thanks again guys, see you again soon!!!
