WAY OT -- being a DAD

Sorry for the WAY off topic thread, just got a little sentimental today and thought I'd share with some of my buds here. There are a few things for me that trump a new knife in the mail --- and this is one of them...

At least once a year we do a "Daddy Day" with each of my little girls --- they get to skip school and set the agenda for an entire day of undivided attention from Dad. This year my youngest wanted to go fishing

Actually, we did more swimming and playing than fishing, but ended up with a small mess of catfish. Here's a few images of the fun:

Oh to be 8 again, full of life and energy. This little girl has stolen my heart :o :)

Thanks for letting me be sentimental, just thought it might be a good thread with Father's Day approaching  I sound like an old fart, but dang guys, they REALLY DO grow up FAST!!!

Sounds like a great day Eli.Nice little haul of fish there.I love Daddy days as well.My little one starts school in 3 weeks, only seems like last week she could fit in my hand. She has been waiting to go to school since she was two.She is trying to grow up fast and i am trying to slow her down...time sure does slip away.

Eli,
Thanks for sharing the pics and the story.

Friday's are "boys day out" for us. Joel (my youngest) doesn't have Pre-school and we spend the day goofing off. Those are some enjoyable times for sure

:D:D

Oh man, Eli. You're making me more anxious for kids. I really hope everything works out for Wifey and I. IVF is so damned expensive. Good for you. Glad you both had a great time. Family is the best of life's gifts (when it's good family).

That sounds like you had a great time. I have 9yr. boy he is my best friend and is always by my side.

That is soo friggin' cool Eli! Special Daddy time is really the best thing in the world. Both my kids love it because I am far less of a task master than my wife (even thought I am the enforcer though when it comes to discipline).

Way cool bro!! Cherrish them man!! They'll be grown up WAY too soon!

I find myself spending lots of time with Lex, part of it is the time I missed with Alyssa when she was an infant due to Uncle Sam calling me for an extended stay in Iraq. These are precious moments.

Great pic Jason --- Alyssa looks like she's taken to "sharing the limelight" !!!

Stay positive! It will work out ... it has to.

Anyone who wants a child this bad, will definitely have one. :D

True. My sister was told by multiple doctors she couldn't and tried for years. No she has 3. Eli, excellent idea of spending a day with your child and giving her the choice of what to do. It is nice to see responsible people on this forum dedicated to more than just steel.

That's just awesome Eli! Brings memories to mind and tear to eye! Cherish the moments while their little, the kids grow like weeds!

Jules

And Jason, that pic is priceless!

Very cool, man! Nice Channel cat's.... fry those suckers up.

My lil' girl is 10 now. She has been hunting and fishing with me since she was 3. We are going canoing tomorrow down the Guadalupe.

Children are a real gift and the greatest thing in life.

That is really cool, Eli! My best memories of my Dad were the times we were outdoors. Just never enough of them!! She will always treasure her memories of you two together!

Looks like your daughter really enjoyed Daddy Day

I really look forward to the day when my little girl is old enough to enjoy the outdoors with her daddy!

I'm lucky enough to spend every Friday with my girls. Today we worked in the garden, played at the park, and waded in the river. It doesn't get any better than a day off with your kids. :D:D:D

Awesome, Eli! I love it (and I remember her!!) She is a sweetheart.

I love the special times alone with each of the kids. Roaming the neighborhood with the 4yr while he is on a big wheel. The flatwater kayaking with the seven year old daughter.

Even when, pajamas on and ready for bed, she just wants to come out and be around Dad while I monkey around in the garage. Awesome, bro!!!

You're going to LOVE them  My wife and I are going to be praying for you guys along those lines...

Thanks for the compliments everyone.

I recieved my SAR5 and immediately (same day) moved it along, took the 180 bucks and spent 125 on the 11 year old's "daddy day", and about 50 on this one for the 8 year old (funny how they get more expensive as the age -- I see DavidE selling off some collectible pieces for a daughter's wedding )

But I had two of the greatest days ever this week, and it only cost me a SAR5... Now, if I can just remember that in 5-10 years when the SARs are like SHBMs today :D

Thanks again.
