Yesterday, after a nice day in the Smokies with the kids, we stopped at Smoky Mtn Knife Works. I showed the 172 Buck Mayo to my wife, who looked at me and said "Buy it."

And, being the good husband that I am, I obeyed her.

Very nice job, Buck. I looked at a number of other knives while there, and nothing else came close.

I have more knives than I can use, and had no intention of buying another unless it would give a real boost in performance over what I already have. The S30V, with Paul Bos heat treat, should do exactly that, based on all the comments I have been hearing.

Keep up the good work!

I probably saw the same exact knife at Somkey Mtn. Knife Works. It was a very nice knife. The locking mechanism on the liner lock fit securely. The handle had a great fit. I had a small discussion with my Wife and she wanted me to buy it, but a little voice in my head kept saying "Boy that sure is a lot of money". I am glad at least one of us bought one.

Don't feel too bad for me though I bought quite a few knives when I was there, but not the 172 Buck Mayo.
;)

I honestly think that the buck/mayo is the best production knife to come out in a while in it's price group.

I'm glad you like the knife. Whenever my wife says "buy it" she always adds "for me"! And it usually isn't a knife!:)
I appreciate the comments and will pass them on to the design group.
Take care,
