Wayne Goddard C16PGY flaw?

I have a Wayne Goddard C16PGY from the 2004 Sprint Run. It's been sitting for years and I recently took a closer look and noticed what appears to be an unfinished spot or flaw in the blade, as shown in the pic in the link. I've seen something similar to this in some older blades, but not this bad. Anyone else have something similar? Of course this doesn't affect function, but it doesn't look right.

Because it looks like someones weak attempt at installing a sharpening choil.
Apologies to Spyderco if it was their attempt.

As I recall it was purchased new, but it was so long ago I don't recall the specific details.

I think you're on the right track there. Note to self...do a better job inspecting purchases upon arrival.

That flaw can be repaired to make it look nicer.
Still won't be an original collectible though.
