Has anyone been using the Goddard 2013 Sprint Run as an EDC? I bought this piece a month ago as my first ever Spyderco knife. As I live in NYC I had to have my knife mailed to my home outside of the city. I haven't had an opportunity to go and pick it up yet, but I'm itching too. I was just wondering what to expect as well as any comments on the piece. Thanks

I just picked one up last week.
It's a nice, good sized knife with clean lines. Pinned construction makes it simple, just keep it sharp and clean.

Thanks Barman1. I got a Tasman Salt, Delica4 and a Calypso Sprint Run on there way too so Im gonna have some goodies to test in the next two weeks. Can't Wait!

Excellent choices. It's going to be a fun couple of weeks. :)

A great knife - I have several Goddards and love using them. This one is plain edged, which I like better than the PS versions previously. The FRN version is very light for its size, linerless and pinned. It almost disappears in your pocket when clipped in because of its thinness. A true classic. Enjoy!

Thanks. I look forward to do some cuttin with her.

I ordered one this morning and plan on putting it to use on hunt in a few weeks. This will be the first spyderco that I have ever purchased.

I'm thinking of purchasing a Spyderco Goddard but something about that pinned construction has me worried. If it has, or developes, play there's really nothing you can do right? Still very tempted because I love the lines..

None of my pinned Spydies has ever exhibited blade play - and i've had pinned Spydies for over 20 years. If it ever happens, you can lightly peen the pins and it should tighten up. Spyderco service can probably do this for you if needed.

There was an opposite problem with some of the early micarta-scaled Goddards. After several years, the micarta warped slightly causing the blade to bind when opening. This problem isn't able to be addressed by the Service Department - and is one of the reasons Spyderco doesn't use much micarta any more, especially on linerless folders... In any event, this is a non-issue on FRN scales...

I haven't really paid attention to these until now..

I like the more forward lock placment as it looks easy to manipulate

Well, went ahead and got one ! :D

I just ordered and received one too; man oh man, you're right to praise it. Yes, the lines are very clean. Great design!

Did you get a Goddard sprint? Pics? The 2013 sprint was made w/OD green FRN (C16POD).

I've got a pair of 1997-2000 vintage black LW FRN Goddards w/plain & combo blades (C16PBK & C16PSBK). Great knives! You show me yours & I'll show you mine. ;)

Yes I did thanks! Unfortunately I'm not at all smart enough to figure out the whole pics posting thing, either here or on the Spyderco forum (I know, that makes me REALLY dumb), but it is the 2013 OD Green version :) And it sure is an awesome piece! Also, as a further example of my dumbness I thought Google was telling me that this thread was much more recent than it actually is, like from earlier this year, but I'm obviously a little behind the times. That's cool that you've got a micarta version too! Sorry I can't post pics w you :(

Edit: whoops sorry I'm reading now that yours are FRN also. Still cool though!
