Greetings,

I looked over a grey handled, VG-10 steel Wayne Goddard Spydie the other day. I am not very familiar with Spydies other than the one Delica that has spent time in my pocket. The handle seemed long for the blade but the blade was a shape I prefer, somewhat of a drop point. Handle was over 5 inches and the blade appeared to be about 3.5 or so. I couldn't find this knife in current catalog.

When did it cease production, and what is it worth as an extra EDC work knife? Also how does VG-10 compare to 154CM?

Many thanks,

i don't own one myself so i all i can speak of is the VG10 which is a superb steel, takes an incredible edge, from my experience, holds it better than 154CM & is a little more corrosion resistant also.
you might wanna give a try to the Calypso Jr. (3" vg10) or strech (3.5" vg10) or go all the way for an endura.

These are a non-cataloged "sprint" run. The Goddard was the second collab on a folding knife Spyderco did with a custom knifemaker. There were a few different variations, baby Goddards, small Goddards, and of course the big Goddard which is what this run is patterned after. There were a couple of different handle materials too (black FRN and dark green Japanese micarta). I think these Goddards were popular with the crowd that doesn't find favor with the traditional Spydie hump.

Anyways, these new gray Goddards are a limited run. Plainedge and 50/50 comboedge are available. Better snag one while you can. ;)

I have 2 of the grey Goddards. Amazingly light and sharper than all get-out.
