Somehow this Wayne knife managed to make it's way into a small childhood time capsule back in the mid 70's. It's a bit beaten up, though I have no recollection of using it really at all. I've toyed with the idea of trying to fix it and make some new scales for it, but considering that I don't particularly like it, (not my style for a stockman), I've not had the desire nor inclination to actually do it. I thought I'd post it just for fun, and considering I haven't been able to find much about Wayne Knives at all, likely someone on the porch would know something.

Interesting- it looks more beat-up than used. Are those bolsters hollow yet pinned?
I never heard of the brand, but it looks worth fixing up. Fun rediscovery anyway.

Sad thing is, that's what mine look like when I have fixed them up.

I'm wondering if that is German made. I have seen knives of that nature that the bolsters are cast, and semi-hollow. The rough fitting of the (what appears to be) bone covers is another clue. Nice knife either way.

It's an interesting knife and would be neat to keep just as it is for sake of the childhood memories..........If only you had any memory of it!
I'd keep it around just like it is, maybe a memory will pop up later.

I have a "Wayne". They are a rather low end brand made in Japan that was very short lived.

Aha......ok, maybe that's why it never warmed up to me, and that would also explain why there is such little info. to be found, here at least.

Thanks, I tend to agree Mark, and that's likely why I haven't done anything with it.

For further info here's a picture of a Wayne I have that looks similar if not the same.

I too couldn't find much info on it.

Now that you showed that second picture, the jigging does look like the Japanese made knves

Itsasportsbar, that is the only other one I've ever seen. Interesting to see, and a much nicer one too. Thanks for posting.

I purchased these two new from a hardware store in 1971. They seem to be fairly well made, have a nice snap.

How 'bout that! Thanks Wolfe, you're right, it does seem to be a decent build. Mine was definitely beaten and not used, as the blades are actually still fairly sharp.
